Author's Note: book_rapport, I'm not going to lie - this isn't exactly what you requested. I tried really, really hard to stick to your prompt, but my fingers just sort of ran away from me once I started typing (as you can tell from the length), then I ran into some trouble, and... well. This is what the muse came up with. I hope you enjoy it :)

The first thing I heard when I woke up was the sound of people arguing, and it took me a moment to realize that those two people were Alice and Edward.

"She should be awake by now," Edward was saying. I could detect a hint of panic in his voice.

"Stop worrying so much, Edward. She's perfectly fine. In fact, we should probably go back inside. She's already starting to wake up."

It was then that I realized that they were having this conversation outside of the room - a conversation I wouldn't even have been aware was taking place three days ago.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, and I was shocked to find that even though the curtains were drawn over the window and there were no lights on in the room, I could see perfectly well in the almost pitch darkness.

This was definitely something I could get used to.

I turned my head to see Edward staring down at me, his eyes swimming with concern. "Hi," I was able to croak out. My throat felt funny, and I was dimly aware of a strange feeling creeping up, getting stronger by the second. I fought back a wave of panic when I realized just what that feeling was. Don't freak out, Bella, I told myself. You knew this was going to happen.

I tried getting up, but found that I needed some help. Edward placed his hand on my lower back, easing me to a sitting position. The more that I moved, the stronger the strange burning in the back of my throat became, so I tried to stay as still as possible for the time being.

"Are you all right?" Alice asked me, and I nodded minutely.

Both of them seemed to figure out the problem immediately. Alice looked Edward straight in the face and said, "She needs to feed. And she needs to do so before we leave, so you have to go now. I'll check the two of you out while you're gone."

Both Alice and Edward helped me to a standing position, and that put me at my breaking point - the fire in the back of my throat roared to life, and at first I doubled over, gasping in pain. The only thing keeping me upright was Edward's arms around my waist.

Then, I'd wrenched myself out of his arms and taken two steps towards the door before I'd even realized what I was doing, and it took all of Edward's strength for him to hold me back.

"Get her out of here!" Alice hissed, and Edward tightened his grip even more around my middle as I tried to drive my elbow into his stomach. "And don't go near any humans."

"Do you really think I would be that stupid?" Edward said angrily, his arms forming a vice grip around me. He was already dragging me towards the window, Alice following directly behind to make sure that I couldn't get away.

Outside breathing in the fresh air, I was able to come back to myself just slightly. I stopped struggling in Edward's arms, enough for him to let up his hold on me.

"I'm going to let go of you now," he murmured against my ear, "And I don't want you to run until I do. Alright?"

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak.

Slowly, he lifted his arms from around me. "We're going to stick to the woods in this area. Just follow me, and don't wander off too far."

"Edward," I said, my voice still hoarse. I tried to clear my throat, but it was no use. "How will I know what to do?"

"It's instinctive, Bella," he said, taking my hand. "You'll just know." Then, he took off in a flash, and I had no choice but to try to keep up with him.

Alice met us at the door of what had been our private suite, practically jumping from foot to foot in her impatience to leave. I was suddenly thankful that Edward had chosen a hotel that had a private cabin, nestled in the woods in a picturesque area for its more “affluent” guests.

“We only have an hour to get back to Forks, so we need to start moving now. We’ll stick to the trails that usually don’t have any human visitors.”

“Usually?” I asked weakly.

Edward took my hand and squeezed my fingers. “You’ll be fine, Bella. We’ll make sure of it.”

I was still uncertain, but nodded anyway. “Alright then. Let’s go.”

Alice and Edward took off, making sure to stay on either side of me the entire time we traveled. Running was a new experience for me, and I decided quickly that I understood why Edward loved traveling this way so much – I loved the feeling of the wind in my hair, the way my feet seemed to barely touch the ground. I especially loved that I could run at this speed and still come out at the end with all of my limbs still intact.

As we approached Forks, Alice seemed to get more and more anxious. She kept throwing glances at me, which was making me nervous.

Edward cringed. “Are you sure we’re going to be cutting it that close?”

Alice nodded. “Yes. But the good news is, Aro will be amused by our entrance, not angered.”

I didn’t even bother asking what they meant by this rather cryptic exchange. I decided that I didn’t want to know – it wasn’t worth the aggravation, and would find out soon enough.

Apparently, we made it back in just the nick of time. As we approached the house, I could hear a familiar voice saying, "Carlisle, my patience has been tried time and time again these past few days, and because I respect you, I have said nothing. But if that girl does not walk through that door this instant-"

The three of us burst through the front door, a rather dramatic entrance, yes, just as Alice had predicted, but that couldn't be helped.

"What perfect timing you have!" Aro said as he glided towards us. He shot a rather pointed glance at Alice, who didn't even try to look innocent. His gaze moved to Edward for just a fraction of a second before his eyes finally landed on me.

The smile that slid across his face was positively gleeful. "Bella, my dear, look at you!" he said as he approached me. Edward placed a hand rather possessively on my lower back as Aro took one of my hands in his. I froze. I hadn't thought to ask Edward if the glitch in my brain that had allowed for certain vampire powers to not work on me while I was human had transferred over to me as a vampire.

To my surprise, Aro laughed. "Nothing. Still nothing at all." He looked at Edward. "I take it you can't read her mind either?"

Edward shook his head. "Her mind is as blank to me as it ever was." Relief flooded through me to the tips of my toes.

Aro nodded, and then he turned to Alice. "Does she have a power yet?"

"We don't know," she answered honestly, and I hoped that Aro wasn't planning on looking at her memories, or Edward's, or else this whole charade would be for naught. I hadn't thought about that small flaw in my plan. I tried to keep the anxiety I was feeling from showing on my face, and then I paused. I was so used to the feel of my heart pounding in my chest when I was scared that I was almost surprised to find no reaction at all.

"Well, when you find out, you must let us know, hmm?" Aro said, patting my hand. Even I could tell that this was not a request.

"Of course we will, Aro," Carlisle answered smoothly. "As soon as we know, you will know."

"Splendid!" Aro said, dropping my hand and turning his back towards us. I fought against an audible sigh of relief.

"Was that all you needed to know, Aro?" Carlisle asked, his voice deceptively calm.

"No, one more thing. Jane?" He said, beckoning the small girl over with a crook of his finger. Jane was grinning maliciously, and I felt Edward's fingers dig into my back in response.

Jane focused her burgundy eyes on mine, and I froze like a bird caught in the stare of a snake. Edward cringed in response to what was going on in her head. I, however, felt nothing, and as it slowly became apparent that her power still didn't work on me, Jane's smile faded away to a frown. Then, she growled.

Aro laughed and clapped his hands. "Wonderful! Carlisle, do plan on bringing this one to Italy when her power appears.”

“Are you so sure that she’ll have a power?” Esme asked, not unkindly.

Aro was staring at me out of the corner of his eye as he answered. “Oh… oh yes. I am quite sure.” Then, he shook his head. “But that is for the future to prove. I have what I have come here for.” That seemed to be some sort of signal, because Jane and Felix started for the front door. I couldn’t have been happier to see them go.

Aro turned to Carlisle. “Carlisle, thank you so very much for your hospitality these past few days, we really do appreciate the gesture.”

“Anything for an old friend,” Carlisle said, as he ushered Aro to the door.

“Thank you. Oh, and one more thing. Alice?”

Alice stared at him furtively out of the corner of her eye. Then, she froze. I could hear Edward growling softly in my ear.

Aro simply smiled. “I really should like to speak with you about how your power works one day. It seems to have come in quite handy on this occasion.” Then, he was out in a flourish, his black robes billowing as the door closed behind him.

There was silence as the atmosphere in the room lifted considerably from that of extreme tension to that of obvious relief. Then, Emmett burst into nervous laughter.

I stared at him as he tried, unsuccessfully, to get himself under control. He calmed considerably for all of a few seconds, which I would bet any amount of money was Jasper’s doing, before bursting into laughter again.

Rosalie rolled her eyes. “Emmett, what the hell is your problem?”

Emmett made a big show of wiping nonexistent tears from his eyes. I glanced at Edward, whose eyes suddenly narrowed. “Emmett,” he said, his voice a warning.

“What?” Emmett grinned, trying to look innocent, and even I could tell that he was fighting a losing battle.

“What’s going on?” I asked. “Why are you laughing?”

“It’s just – Aro seems convinced that this was all Alice’s doing. Imagine what he would think if he knew that this was mostly your idea.”

I stared at him, completely dumbfounded. “Why is that funny?”

Emmett cackled. "Didn't want us barging in at an inopportune moment, eh?" he said, echoing Alice's statement from a few days before, and I knew that if I could still blush, my cheeks would have been bright red. "Are you sure it isn't Bella who just wanted to have you all to herself for a week?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

Edward growled, I buried my face in my hands, and Emmett burst into hysterics at both of our reactions. Jasper chortled behind him, and knowing he could feel my embarrassment did not make things any better. Alice smirked at all of us, while Rosalie looked on impassively.

At that point, Esme came up behind me, putting her arms around my shoulders, effectively pulling my arms down away from my face.

“Emmett Cullen, you leave Bella alone. She’s had a trying enough couple of days without you being obnoxious.” Emmett made a gesture as if he were locking his mouth and throwing away the key, but continued chuckling.

Esme leaned her head closer to my ear and whispered, “Don’t worry, dear. They’re just bothered that they didn’t come up with the idea first.”

I couldn’t help but grin.

“Are you feeling all right?” She asked, coming in front of me. She was the first one to really look at me since I’d walked in the door, and as I still hadn’t had the chance to look in a mirror, I wasn’t sure how different I looked.

I nodded. “Mostly fine. Still getting used to… things.” By things, I meant the constant tingling in the back of my throat, but I was sure I wouldn’t have to tell Esme that.

She simply nodded and patted my cheek with her hand. “You will. We’ll all be here to help.”

“Why don’t you and Edward go upstairs and rest,” Carlisle suggested. “We’ll be leaving for Alaska in the morning.”

I couldn’t help the way my throat constricted slightly, even as I nodded and said, “Okay.” I knew that my being a vampire meant that we would have to leave Forks, leave everyone and everything behind. I’d known that from the beginning, from the moment I’d told Edward I was ready.

That didn’t mean it was going to be easy.

I felt myself relax and shot Jasper an appreciative glance before taking Edward’s hand and walking with him up the winding staircase.

When we got to the top, I let go of Edward’s hand and flew up the next set of steps, turning around to grin at him when I reached the top.

Edward chuckled, taking the stairs at a more leisurely pace. “I see you understand now why I enjoy running so much.”

I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “It has its advantages.”

Edward’s eyes took on a wicked gleam and I gasped as he kissed me. I was surprised to find that his lips didn’t feel as cool or as hard as they used to as he pressed his mouth hard against mine. He was still able to render me breathless, however.

“I thought we were supposed to be resting.” I was barely able to gasp the words out from around his mouth.

Edward groaned. He placed a hand on either side of me, forcing me up against his bedroom door. “Bella, are you honestly going to tell me that you’d rather rest at the moment?” To punctuate his statement, he pressed his body harder against me and I moaned at the feel of his erection against my hip.

“Never mind,” I said, reaching behind me with one hand to fumble with the doorknob while I pulled him closer by his collar with the other. “Forget I said anything.”

Edward leaned towards me, his lips a hairsbreadth away from mine, teasing me. I raised my face to meet his, but he didn’t move. I groaned. He grinned. “Consider the words forgotten,” he whispered. Then, his lips crashed down on mine again.

I finally got the door open, just enough for us to slip into his room and close it again behind us. I was unwilling to untangle myself from him even for a moment, and Edward seemed just fine with keeping me in his arms. His hands roamed across my back and across my shoulders. He cupped my breasts through my shirt, and I gasped. I slid my tongue across his lips and was thrilled when finally, finally his mouth opened up to me. For the first time, I could kiss him the way I’d wanted to kiss him since that very first day he’d held me in the meadow without having to worry about cutting my tongue against his teeth, or him losing his ironclad self control and hurting me, and I couldn’t help the moan that escaped my lips.

Edward trailed his lips down my neck leaving a line of fire behind, and I pulled him closer.

Then, I caught my reflection in the mirror hanging on Edward’s wall, and I froze with a stillness that I wasn’t yet used to, a vampire’s stillness. A stillness I had observed in Edward many times before when he was nervous, but had not yet experienced for myself. It was an odd feeling.

Edward noticed the sudden change in my demeanor and lifted his head to follow my gaze to where I was staring. I wanted to look at him, to let him know that I was okay, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the girl in the mirror. Yet, I couldn’t approach her either.

He seemed to sense my hesitation and gently put his hand on my shoulder, guiding me closer to the mirror. I couldn’t help but lean forward, examining my face. I was startled by both the similarities and the differences I saw.

Nothing had changed – not really. My features were a little more angular, a little more defined. My skin was just a shade paler, having been fair for a human to begin with. No, what had shocked me into stillness were my eyes. They were a bright, crimson red, almost shining in the darkness.

When I didn’t say anything for a few minutes, Edward ran the back of his hand down my cheek and asked, “Are you all right?”

“Yes. It’s just that…” I took a breath and blinked. “My eyes. I didn’t expect them to be- I mean, I knew that they would look like this, but-“ I stumbled over my words, not quite sure how to explain myself. I was finally able to tear my gaze away from my reflection to look at him. “It’s different to know something and to actually see it for yourself.”

Edward was staring at me, one of those unfathomable looks in his eyes, and I was sure that if my heart could beat, it would be thumping nervously in my chest. “What?” I asked him, trying my best to cover up my anxiety.

He wasn’t fooled. Edward cupped my face in both of his hands. “I love you, Bella,” he said softly. “I will never stop loving you.”

How he knew those were the exact words I needed to hear at that moment when I didn’t even realize it myself, I’d never know, but I found myself relaxing instantly, repeating the words He loves me, he loves me over and over again in my head.

Instead of answering him with words, I let my body do the talking. I leaned up on my toes and kissed him gently, letting my hands tangle in his hair. Edward sighed, and I breathed in the sweet smell of his breath. I was thrilled to realize that to my newly heightened senses, he smelled even better than he had when I was human.

I reached to pull his shirt over his head, then leaned forward to kiss him again, unwilling to be away from him even for an instant. I ran my fingers down his arms, wondering at the feeling of his skin under my fingers – even my sense of touch was different. I gripped his upper arms tighter and kissed him harder, faster, the need to feel his skin against mine suddenly desperate.

Edward lifted my shirt over my head in one quick, decisive movement, then quickly pushed my pants down off of my hips. They fell to my feet and I impatiently kicked them out of the way. He chuckled, then picked me up and, just as he had on our wedding night, set me down on the bed. Unlike on our wedding night, however, he laid down on top of me, every inch of his body pressing into mine, and I arched up to meet him.

“Edward,” I said as he kissed me, “This may not be the most appropriate time to be asking this.” I arched my back as he deftly popped the enclosure on my bra and slipped it from my shoulders, throwing the material to the side. “But…”

“But?” He leaned forward and pressed his lips to my collar bones, making his way down to the valley between my breasts.

My breath hitched. “Um.” He pressed kiss after open mouth kiss against my stomach, and I was finding it hard to think. “Um.” I swallowed. “Do I still smell the same to you?” I said the words as quickly as I possibly could, making them almost just one word, a single nervous syllable. If I could have blushed, I would have been bright red by now.

Edward leaned his chin against my stomach and stared up at me through his lashes, his golden eyes scorching in the darkness. He slowly inched his way up my body until he was eye-level with me.

“Isabella Cullen,” he said, pronouncing every syllable with deliberate precision, and I thrilled at the sound of my name on his lips. Cullen. I was a Cullen now, through and through. That knowledge hadn’t really had time to sink in yet. A slight smile crossed my lips.

He leaned his face towards me, and I thought he was going to kiss me, but instead, he kissed the hollow of my neck. He spoke with his lips against my skin, and the vibrations sent pleasant tingles running through me. “You are still the most precious,” he kissed my shoulder, then continued to move lower. “Most beautiful person in my world.” He glanced up at me and gave me a wry smile. “And you still smell delectable.” Then, his lips were at my breast, and I arched my back, gasping. I moaned, pleasure rocketing through me as he tugged at one of my nipples with his teeth. I whimpered when he mimicked the action with my other breast.

I felt like I was on fire everywhere he touched me, and the need for him was suddenly burning in its intensity. I reached down and frantically pulled at the button of his jeans, tugging them off of his hips. Boldly, I slipped my hand between us to take him in hand, and Edward let out a guttural groan of, “Bella.” Then, his mouth was on mine again, kissing me frantically, with a wild abandon he’d never been able to allow himself before. He moved my hand away, quickly tugged off my panties, and nudged my legs apart with his knee. I groaned at the feeling of some pressure, any pressure, at the place I needed it most.

Then, I felt his hardness against my thigh, and I wrapped my legs around his hip and my arms around his neck, making my intention clear. He slid into me slowly, and I hissed, “Edward.” My hips bucked upwards of their own accord.

Edward moved slowly, and I ground against him, aching, needing for him to move faster. My nails dug into his shoulder, and I growled, “Edward.” He let out a low growl in return and the speed of his thrusts increased. I gasped, and he took the opportunity to kiss me, sliding his tongue against mine.

I held tight to him as our bodies crashed together, and it took a few moments for me to realize that the loud whimpers I was hearing were coming from me. I moaned and pushed harder against him, increasing the friction against my clit. Edward slid his hand between us, his thumb circling the nub with a constant pressure, and pleasure rocketed through me. Then, I screamed, as he sent me spiraling over the edge. Edward groaned my name, tensing, and I knew he was close. Suddenly, he cried out, his climax pulsing through him. He collapsed on top of me and we lay there in a boneless, blistering heap.

Edward rolled so that all of his weight wasn’t on top of me. I fought to catch my breath. “That was-” I stopped. Amazing didn’t seem to be a good enough word. Exhilarating might have been appropriate. Perfect was too cliché.

He laughed. “I know.” Then, he pulled me tighter into his arms and kissed my hair.

We lay there silently holding each other, not saying anything more, knowing that no other words were necessary.

The next morning dawned with a shock of bright sunlight streaming into Edward’s room through the wall of windows. I sighed, burrowing further into his arms.

Then, my eyes popped open, and I stared at my arm. A beam of sunlight was shining directly onto the bed, and Edward’s skin threw rainbows of color about the room. However, he wasn’t the only one whose skin was sparkling.

I sat up and gasped, turning my arm back and forth so that the sun could hit my skin at different angles. I stared wonderingly down at my fingers, at my lower leg where it was sticking out from under the sheet, and heard a soft chuckle echo behind me.

Edward sat forward and kissed the back of my shoulder. “Good morning,” he murmured, putting his arms around my waist.

I lowered my arm, turned to him, and grinned. “Yes, it is.” I leaned forward to kiss him, but Edward pulled back suddenly and groaned.

“What?” I asked. I gave him a wry smile. “Do I smell funny?”

“No, you still smell wonderful, Bella,” Edward said, and I rolled my eyes. He always took things so literally. “It’s Alice,” he clarified. “She’s on her way up here to get us, so you’d better put some clothes on.”

“Get us?” I said, standing up and searching for the clothes I’d hastily thrown about the previous night. “For what?”

“You need to go hunting,” Edward said, and I stilled. I stared at Edward, and when he explained why I had to go hunting again so soon, I didn’t feel any better. “We’re going to be passing humans on our way to Denali, and while most of them are going to be in cars, they are still going to be humans.” He brushed a piece of hair behind my ear. “The less thirsty you are, the less… appealing they’ll seem. And it will be hard enough for you to resist as it is.” He kissed my forehead.

I sighed. “As long as Alice doesn’t see me killing anyone,” I said dryly, trying to make light of the situation. Edward’s eyes narrowed at me. I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye. “She doesn’t, does she?”

“I’m sure she would have mentioned it by now,” Edward said, and since he didn’t sound worried, I shouldn’t have been nervous. Still...

“And she’s sure?”

Edward wrapped his arms around me again, now fully clothed. “How many times do I have to tell you?” He murmured, leaning down to kiss me. “Never bet against Alice.”

“That’s right!” Alice said, bounding into the room as if knowing she was being talked about, which was entirely possible. She walked right over to Edward and plucked me out of his arms.

“Hey!” I protested.

“Sorry to break up the morning sex that was going to occur-“

“Alice!” Edward scolded, and I fought back my own embarrassment. Alice did have a way with words.

“What? It’s not like I wanted to see any of that.” She shuddered. “Anyway, I’m sure Edward’s explained everything to you by now, nosy thought-hearing vampire that he is.” Alice grinned at him and he rolled his eyes. “Everyone will be waiting for us, and we’ll be leaving as soon as we get back.”

I nodded, and Alice held the door open for me. I stood back for a moment holding my hand out and immediately felt fingers interlace with mine. Alice rolled her eyes and walked ahead of us, muttering something under her breath about “sickeningly sweet newlyweds.” I turned and shot Edward a shy grin.

He simply smiled.

As we descended into the living room, Carlisle called Alice and Edward over to finalize a few things. I waited at the foot of the stairs.

I suddenly felt a strange prickling at my back. When I turned around, I caught Rosalie staring at me. She didn’t even try to turn away, didn’t care that she’d been caught. The look in her golden eyes was unfathomable, but not all friendly. I could tell right away what she wanted to say.

She wanted to tell me that I’d chosen wrong. She wanted to tell me that I should have stayed human, should have found a way to hide from the Volturi and live my life as it was meant to be lived.

But as Edward walked back over and put his arms around me, bantering back and forth with Alice and stopping only to press a kiss to my temple, I couldn’t help but disagree. Because I knew that I’d chosen right.

The End

Oh, my gosh.

I am speechless… I love this so much. You got everyone’s character down perfectly, and I am just awed.

As I read it through the first time I wrote down my reactions (I always feel the author’s benefit best, in a constructive sense, if reactions are given after a first-read through).

My eyesight blurred, my back arching off of the bed as I cried out.

I'd expected this. I'd known this was coming. I'd felt this pain before, and I remembered how I'd begged for Edward to put out the fire that was burning its way up my arm, to end my torment.

This time, I grasped his hand tightly in mine and grit my teeth, knowing the pain would only get worse before it got better.

The description here is perfect; it would have been so easy to venture into overwrought description of pain, or to remain too clinical or detached. You walked a very fine line, and struck a perfect balance. I was sucked into the story in the first lines.

"You seem to be sending me mixed messages," he said with a wry grin, gently skimming one of his hands down my arm, then down my left side, brushing against my thigh. My breath hitched.

Then, said hand disappeared into his pocket, and the phone was at his ear in an instant. I glared at him and he smiled back impishly. "Hello, Alice. Bella and I are busy at the moment, so if you could-" He paused and his brow furrowed.

You had me on the edge of my seat in suspense—I honestly thought Alice was calling because the Volturi were going to arrive on their doorstep any second! Lovely interaction, of course… I can *see* Edward picking up the phone and grinning at Bella. :)

"Let's not panic prematurely," he said, his face still inches from mine, and the sweet smell of his breath made me woozy. I nodded.

This is EXACTLY something Edward would say. (Mystery writer, are you *sure* you’re not Stephanie Meyer?)

I closed my eyes and let the gentle motion of his body moving swiftly through the trees lull me into a sense of calm.

I love this seemingly throwaway line, when really it shows us the evolution of their relationship. Riding on Edward’s back used to terrify her, but now she trusts him (and herself!) enough to close her eyes and feel soothed rather than panicked. Great detail!!

"Okay," I said, glancing back and forth between Edward and Alice. "For those of us who can't read minds or see the future, what exactly is going on? Humor the powerless human."

HAHA this is *such* a Bella-ish thing to say! Wonderful!! I laughed out loud. And brava on making Jasper a three-dimensional character in so few words here… the ‘grateful glance’ Bella throws him and his laughing at her humor… you do a great job of making Jasper come alive (as ironic as that statement may be!)

The Volturi had said they would come check on me some day to make sure that Edward had been true to his word and changed me into a vampire. Edward had sworn that it would take them years to come here, but deep down, I knew that they saw me as a threat. Humans weren't supposed to know about the vampire world.

Even though *I* knew it was about the Volturi, you wrote Bella’s reaction very believably—of course they weren’t expecting it, and I was very convinced at Bella’s surprise (even while myself being unsurprised by the inevitable visit). Wonderful scene all around!

Edward was smiling, too, but not voluntarily. "That was overkill."

"Sorry," Jasper said, and even I could tell that he wasn't. "You wanted my help. At least now she isn't hyperventilating."

HAHAHA! Another wonderful moment of humor in the face of impending doom. LOVE IT!! (Again—are you quite sure you’re not really Stephanie Meyer??)

To be continued...

Part Dos!
"I just wish we had more time, that's all," I said, burying my head in his shoulder. We were always out of time, always pressed for time, always running against some invisible clock that was ticking against us.

You captured the irony here perfectly—they’re always out of time, yet they are planning for eternity…

"Don't," I rasped. "Please, don't." Then, I couldn't say anything more, because if I opened my mouth again, I would scream. Instead, I bit my lip and clenched my hands into fists. I felt my entire body shake with the effort of keeping that one scream from clawing its way out of my throat.

Oh, Bella… she *would* be that stubborn, not screaming in order to not hurt Edward more… it just makes the next line-- I closed my eyes, withdrew back to my memories, and screamed.-- even more powerful.

I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU, MYSTERY AUTHOR (though I think I may know who you are—other than my brilliant hypothesis that you are, in fact, Mrs. Meyer herself)

The dress was short sleeved and had a modest sweetheart neckline, with a row of tiny pearl buttons inching down the back. The veil was made of the same delicate lace as the dress.

This sounds gorgeous, and exactly right! I am so grateful you didn’t put her in a high-neckline… :)

Rosalie and Alice were getting ready to walk out ahead of me. Both of them looked stunning in navy blue strapless gowns. I had no idea how they’d gotten ready so fast. I wasn’t going to ask.

Have you read my fic? Because these are the very same dresses I put Alice and Rosalie in!! :)

Although I did remember the way his mouth had quirked, just a little, when the minister had said, “Till death do you part.”

AHHHHHHHH. SO EDWARD. (Sorry for my incoherency, but this is just *too perfect.*)

Seriously, will you marry me??

“Bella, love, slow down. Don’t rush this.” His eyes took on a wicked gleam, and I shivered as he kissed my throat, my shoulder, my jaw, the hollow of my ear, and then whispered, “We have all night.”

The temperature in my dorm just went up from a nice 74 degrees Fahrenheit to like 74 degrees Kelvin. Guh.

“You’re not so bad yourself,” I gasped against his lips.

His laughter rumbled through me.

Oh, wow. That last line is so lyrical, and still so Bella. Beautiful.

Dimly, I registered that my heartbeat was beginning to slow, but I didn’t care, because the darkness was closing in on me again.

Aww, poor Edward… he has to listen to Bella’s heart stop beating. This line is pretty terrifying—you didn’t shy away from the horror of the transformation, and I think you’ve portrayed it brilliantly. I think it has a melancholy to it, in addition to the raw pain and fear—sadness that her heart will never beat again with the blood that makes her human.

*hugs Edward*

Really, this scene is so evocative. I really feel *with* the characters, not *for* them, and to do that you’ve got to have some powerful writing. <3

"The Volturi are coming early, Edward," she said frantically, and Edward stilled. "They're coming now. They must have known to use the loophole in my vision and made a snap decision, because I only saw them as they were about to board the plane. They'll be in Forks by morning."

Oh my god. I was caught totally by surprise. What a twist!! And it makes absolute, devastating sense.

"And not because you're afraid," he finished, still not looking at me. "Not because there was a danger looming over our heads."

Oh, Edward. *wibbles*

Continued... (stupid word limit *grumbles*)

Re: Part Tres!
I opened my mouth to answer, but Edward was the one who responded, "I need you here, Alice. Just in case I-" He stopped abruptly, but we could both tell what he was about to say- Just in case I'm not able to stop.

You could not have written this any more realistically. Seriously, I may refuse to believe the author if they claim they’re anyone *but* Stephenie Meyer.

When he reached the hollow of my throat, he paused and pressed his ear to my chest. I almost wept.

BEAUTIFUL. I seriously had tears in my eyes… I could *see* this entire scene.

His lower body was pressing harder against mine, and one of his hands gently found both of my wrists as he kissed a trail down my throat. Distantly, I acknowledged that this was important, and that I should be paying closer attention to what was going on, but all I could feel was his cold, hard body pressing down the length of mine.

Then, his teeth sunk into my neck, and all I felt was fire.

Oh, my god. (I know I keep saying that, but I really fail at finding a more suitable response other than ARGH:lkhadkjncvoihxjnafoijd). It took me half a second to get what was important here, and then I realized—Edward was holding her down, stilling her for the killing blow.

Devastating and perfect, as is the rest of this.

I especially loved that I could run at this speed and still come out at the end with all of my limbs still intact.

I love the subtle humor here, even while Bella is coping with the onslaught of new experiences.

"Carlisle, my patience has been tried time and time again these past few days, and because I respect you, I have said nothing. But if that girl does not walk through that door this instant-"

The three of us burst through the front door, a rather dramatic entrance, yes, just as Alice had predicted, but that couldn't be helped.

HAHA, so perfect! I love the image of Bella bursting into the door. :)

Esme leaned her head closer to my ear and whispered, “Don’t worry, dear. They’re just bothered that they didn’t come up with the idea first.”

Aww, this is why I love Esme. Great moment! Bella’s such a part of the family. :)

I was surprised to find that his lips didn’t feel as cool or as hard as they used to as he pressed his mouth hard against mine. He was still able to render me breathless, however.

I love how you included a comparison to how Bella physically feels Edward before and after the transformation.

Nothing had changed – not really. My features were a little more angular, a little more defined. My skin was just a shade paler, having been fair for a human to begin with. No, what had shocked me into stillness were my eyes. They were a bright, crimson red, almost shining in the darkness.

I was honestly expecting Bella to be reacting to how beautiful her new reflection is, and I was happily surprised that it was the red eyes she focused on. This seems realistic and very in-character for Bella.

“But?” He leaned forward and pressed his lips to my collar bones, making his way down to the valley between my breasts.

I adore how Bella insists on having a conversation during what is possibly the hottest sex scene *ever*. I also love how Edward is kissing her in “the valley between my breasts.” SO FREAKIN HOT. And beautiful language without falling into mushy purple prose. I am seriously in love with you (and your writing!)

A beam of sunlight was shining directly onto the bed, and Edward’s skin threw rainbows of color about the room. However, he wasn’t the only one whose skin was sparkling.

Awww, and rainbows are symbolic of hope and promises!! Not only is this a gorgeous image, it also fits perfectly with the tone/mood of the scene. :)

To be continued... (last time, I promise!!)
book_rapportbook_rapport on October 15th, 2007 03:21 am (UTC)

Edward sat forward and kissed the back of my shoulder. “Good morning,” he murmured, putting his arms around my waist.

One *teensy* nitpicky question—this interaction makes it sound like they fell asleep, but I guess you just meant they lay together all night with their eyes closed, just enjoying each other’s company?

“What? It’s not like I wanted to see any of that.” She shuddered.

Riiiight. ;)

Because I knew that I’d chosen right.

And that’s ultimately what the series is about—choice (or the lack of choice) in a destined romance. It has always been about a series of choices Bella has had to make—does she choose to continue associating with Edward despite his warnings that he is a danger to her, does she choose Edward or Jacob, does she choose life or death—and you’ve encapsulated this theme wonderfully. Perfect ending line.

Okay, so overall: I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC. I never want it to end!!!

I think that the structure you chose was perfect-- I love how you wove in her transformation with the wedding and the events leading up to the dramatic plot twist. It was seamlessly orchestrated and I am jealous I didn't think of this first!! :D

And as for not writing what I asked for-- you have written something beyond my wildest dreams. This *is* my ultimate Edward/Bella transformation!fic. Plus, there was totally hot sex, and Bella being turned, and Aro showing up and being all mysterious and vaguely threatening, and Jane being petulant (HA! *sticks tongue out at Jane* Your powers still don't work!) and, of course, the deliciousness that is Edward.

I don't really know how to communicate my love for this fic... I can't wait to see the unveiling so I can thank you appropriately for all the work you put into writing such a masterpiece (although I have a VERY STRONG SUSPICION of who you are, missy! *g*)

Now that the reveal has been posted, I can finally reply to this wonderful, fantastic review.

Ummm... can I start out by saying... HOLY REVIEW, BATMAN!! cinnamon_kisses told me I should probably come take a look when you first commented, and if I tell you I was floored, it would be an understatement. You made my Monday. I was floating on air for the entire day because of you <33333

Mystery writer, are you *sure* you’re not Stephanie Meyer?

No, I am not Stephenie Meyer *giggles* But seriously, that is THE BEST compliment EVER. Thank you so much.

Have you read my fic? Because these are the very same dresses I put Alice and Rosalie in!! :)

I completely forgot that your bridesmaids dresses were the same style! I just picked a color and went with it. Erm... oops? Great minds think alike?

Seriously, will you marry me??

YES! Time, place? Should I supply the champagne? ;)

This interaction makes it sound like they fell asleep

Oy. Okay - honestly, by this point in the fic, I was going CRAZY. I'd gotten through the entire thing, the smut almost killed me (so I'm very glad you liked it :D) and then I couldn't figure out how to lead into the ending >_< But, no, they're not meant to be waking up - let's just say they were lying there holding each other all night ;)

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad you loved this fic. I've been fighting replying to you since I first saw your AMAZINGOMG comment. This fic forced me to face all of my Twilight fandom fears - Bella's change, Bella as a vampire, and smut - in one fell swoop, so I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY glad that you liked it. I was so worried :)

Wow. You've made Edward/Bella really, really fun to read! (Coming from me, that's a HUGE compliment.)

I feel so intimidated by book_rapport's ginormous comment. I think I found I line she forgot though.

"Sorry to break up the morning sex that was going to occur-"

Oh, Alice.

Your fic is so beautiful and so adorable and frightening and haunting. I love this entire story to pieces!

...Hey, cinnamon_kisses, could you let me write book_rapport's fic next time? That comment is just... o_o
Katie aka Amethyst Jcinnamon_kisses on October 15th, 2007 05:24 am (UTC)
Lol, she is a fantastic reviewer. You should entreat her to review all the twilight_t00bs fics. ^^

That comment is just... o_o

Er, I do get a bit chatty in my comments, don't I? But if any fic deserved it, this one does!! I am so lucky to have an author put so much thought and care into my prompt... I'm just amazed, quite frankly. :)

(And I would be thrilled if you wrote my fic next time, lol!!) :D

OMG! That was so good. I love your fic, I love emmette and his little comments. Good Job:).

wait...wait...why is there not more?? i'm looking for the link to part 3/15, or 3/21, or something like that. more! more! more!

(er, this was fantastic, though the mega-giant-reviews up above left me with nothing meaningful to say. except the very last part, the rosalie-bella interaction, was spot on and perfect. it NEEDS to be said in order for this sort of post-vamping fic to be good.)

(umm, and teh hawt sexx was pretty awesome too.) XD

This was a beautiful fic! I loved how in character everyone is, especially Bella and Edward. I think it's hard to write Bella and really get her character down, but I knew you had it when I was yelling at her in my head (as Meyer's Bella always says and does thing that make me yell at her). And I love Jasper's little part and of course Alice is wonderful. I didn't want this fic to end! This is exactly how I picture Bella as a vampire.
robinmarianrobinmarian on October 16th, 2007 03:14 am (UTC)
Wow! I RAN here as soon as I saw book's rapport's post at lionlamb. haha Wow! That was great. Thank you for writing this. I thought I was reading the first chapter to SM's BD. haha
gigli: eddie.gigliwascool on October 16th, 2007 09:53 pm (UTC)
that was perfection. I abosultely adore this story, absolutely and totally. I haven't read any vampire!Bella fics, but yours was just delectable. Emmett made me giggle, and everyone was just so in-character that I must applaud you a thousand times over! Wonderful story!
Reina: alicereina_chan on October 17th, 2007 02:48 am (UTC)
Holy hell, this fic is what we've all been waiting for. In every sense.

YAY IN CHARACTER AND AWESOMELY PLOTTED!! Awesomely plotted? I think I mean nice story. Haha if Stephenie reads this she's not going to bother with Breaking Dawn. This is our insurance policy, just in case it somehow goes...askew.

And now, Edward's point of view! We must have more...
Nadyabrambernut on October 19th, 2007 12:26 pm (UTC)
Wow...I don't even have any other words. Loved it. :)

When I finally finished the fic I scrolled down and saw book_rapport's comment, then another one, then another one, then another one and by then I was laughing my head off, while thinking DAMN! She took all the compliments!

At least she didn't say that. :P btw to book_rapport loved your comment(s)

Not a lot that hasn't been said, but..

New favourite short fic. Incredible.

Characterisation perfect, plot well developed, writing absolutely flawless, brilliant moments of humour, equally exquisite moments of sadness (*cries*)...oh, and major, major hotness, just to top it off ;) The number of awesome, quotable lines in this fic... :) :) :)

*floats* This is going to the very top of my -reread several times a week- fanfic bookmark list :P
